CAPTURE LIFE

I am in some serious need to shoot people. Ha! Not the bang, you're dead kind of shoot, the use my camera to capture you, capture laughter, capture moments, capture LIFE. I came across this sweet necklace on etsy and it made me realize that capturing life, is what I love to do. I'm so burned out on inanimate objects in my still life class and it's hard to get people willing to go out in the snow, now turned muddy mucky rainy melting mess. So if you're up for a life capturing adventure, let me know. :)

I stumbled across these photos while transferring my thousands of photos due to a crashed hard drive (bummer). He's such a strange guy ;) (actually, I think I made him do these things! haha) but hey, it totally captures the silly life I live! And because this makes me laugh and makes me long for the pool filled summer days that seem just out of reach...

ÉN GRY & SIF - AVON GLASS

I have really been loving textures lately and I think it's pretty obvious with my next assignment. We were given the task to do both an open assignment (we got to CHOOSE what to take photos of!!!) and glass or alcohol shot that were advertisements. I'm starting with my open assignment because I really loved how it turned out. I was wanting to shoot something that I felt fit my style and something that I would enjoy photographing so I chose this cute clutch that was a gift to me from Én Gry & Sif. Such a neat company! All the textures with the fuzzy wool, crisp dried flowers and gritty wood. I added the blurry flowers on the right just for this post because I liked how to two went together. And the red candy dish is actually an Avon Collectible from my Grandma.

MORTAR + PESTLE

This assignment was to take a photo of a timeless object, one that wouldn't be dated in a few years. I photographed this beautiful olive wood mortar and pestle from Anthropologie. I love the richness and textures.

THE UGLI TRUTH

Here's my next assignment, a magazine spread for food. I totally went an opposite way from everyone else in the class doing a more comical style but I think it turned out great! This is another design I made myself. It's has such a fun yearbook superlatives feel! And yes, it's real. Ugli fruit is really a fruit... and it's really yummy! I made the faces by hand which were also a lot of fun to create.

KNITTY GRITTY

Whew! Halfway through the quarter already. Here's one of my first assignments. Our guidelines were just to make an editorial fashion item so I really wanted to shoot my beautiful knit headband from Anthropologie (LOVELOVELOVE this store!!!). We worked with a designer to come up with a fashion editorial spread for a magazine. I actually made this design on my own while messing around in my spare time and thought it was pretty cute! I actually love designing as well as photography so it's hard for me to not play around with my images. :) It was a great experience to work with a designer and challenging at the same time to make sure it was something that we both could benefit from. More soon...
