the mustache emporium

Getting closer and closer to graduation, our guidelines for photo shoots are getting more open. My first assignment at school was to create a black and white advertisement for a publication. It could be for a real or made up company. So I decided to go the fun route and do an ad for fake mustaches! I actually googled "the mustache emporium" as a joke and was astonished when I found out it was a real company. Here's my final ad and some out takes from the shoot with Sara. An after session of Sara will be up soon thats filled with lots of really fun color!

Whitney is another lovely blue eyed girl that I get to shoot. We ran around town taking some pictures just for fun. Here are some favorites. Her boyfriend jumped in for a few at the end.

ashley + friends

Remember my cousin Ashley? Well she is almost done with high school and asked to go back to Cox and take some pictures with her friends. They were all so cute and coordinated =) Here are some of my favorites! Congrats girls! (Psst... Ashley's the one in yellow!)

vanessa

My cousin from Oklahoma came to visit! I haven't seen her in like two years so it was good to get to see her again. We went to our grandparents farm to do the pictures for her mom. She's cute. And she has some amazing blue eyes! I wish I got to see her more!!! I'll start it with a picture of Vanessa and I from 1991 helping grandpa pick strawberries. Haha, talk about a flashback!

We've seem to somehow have grown up...kinda =)

Her long time friend, Molly came with her. Molly is practically part of the family. =)

BFF's... hahaha They wanted to be goofy.

My next assignment is purely technical. It is a formal business portrait. So here's my lovely model, Michael. It's sometimes nice to not have to be too creative for a shoot and just get the technicalities down.

jane

I have finally done it. I have finally used lights on location! For my next assignment we had to do a 3 image series with lights on location. I was really nervous about it but with help from assistant Aaron and model Jane, I think it went well. Jane is nature loving painter who wears ridiculous glasses sometimes. Haha, she's pretty much amazing. =) I have always wanted to try something with a painter. I wanted to give the illusion that she was painting on my lens. So after a failed attempt with saran wrap and 50mph winds, my car window worked like magic! I think it adds a neat effect.

And she made best friends with a catepillar... haha

legs, legs, legs

My next assignment for portraiture is to do a non facial portrait diptych. When I first heard this assignment I really wanted to do something abstract and bizarre. I think I achieved that pretty well. haha Here's legs of dancer, Erin.

hot hat and monkey grass

Ever need to get rid of monkey grass really fast? My grandpa has the solution.

Light it with a single match and watch it burn in about 30 seconds. haha.

He came up to me and said, "grab your camera, I'm going to do something spectacular!"
Then my grandma, mom and I went upstairs and played with her old hats. Like mother like daughter...

My grandma calls the orange hat her "hot hat," haha.

Welcome spring quarter... What a way to start it with snow flurries today. Yuck! Hopefully this is the last time that happens. Anyways... I am taking a portraiture class this quarter which I am excited about. Our first assignment was to do a portrait of a classmate and I was lucky enough to get my shooting buddy from last quarter, Kelly! She's super cute and when I found out I had her I knew I had to do something with flowers because she makes me think of flowers =) I am having trouble picking which one to use for class, so let me know what you guys think. You would never know but when these were taken it was raining and probably 30 some degrees. She's such a trooper! She has such pretty blue eyes...

The cherry blossom trees are so cool! It's like a whole other world.

America's Next Top Model? Look Tyra, she found her light! haha

Check out that wind action!

This is my lovely friend Erin. You may have seen a picture of her before on my blog but she's just so gorgeous I had to take more! =) She needed something a little professional for a resume.

You should also check out photos from a wedding I helped shoot a few weeks back with Carmen. They are pretty amazing! See them by clicking HERE!
