ALLISON + SARAH | SISTERS

Allison is a photo classmate of mine and was wanting to get some photos of her and her sister for their mom for mother's day. Of course I was happy too! I can always use photos for my independent study this quarter. It's always fun photographing another photographer so you get their input on poses and locations. They were a riot and fun to photograph (if you can't tell be some of the goofy ones below :) ) Not to mention gorgeous girls! They make me wish I had a sister. Hope your mom enjoys!!

NATTADA

Meet Nattada, the girl who's first thing she said to me when I asked her to model for me for a project was "I'm not photogenic, so I hope these turn out for you!" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? She's such a natural beauty! (Seriously, I have such GORGEOUS friends!!!) These photos were taken for my first project of three series this quarter. I chose to do a senior session (even though Nattada's a junior in college, ;) shhhhh) for my first five image series to help add to my portfolio. I got to use some of the locations I've been eyeing for a while now and I LOOOVE how the ivy wall turned out. I have so many I love and when I was showing these in class someone commented "she looks so happy!" and that just makes ME so happy that I do what I do and my goal is to make people be relaxed and comfortable and not to mention happy! in the photos I take of them. Goal accomplished. :)

LINDSEY + NOLAN | ENGAGED

Now for Lindsey and Nolan! They pushed me to my limit for their photos :) they wanted to go to Moonville Tunnel (supposed to be one of the most haunted places in Ohio! luckily we were there in the daytime! haha) for some of their shots. They turned out so neat, I'm glad they got me out of my comfort zone! And into the crazy backwoods of southeastern Ohio :) So don't blame me if a man swinging a lantern appears on screen while you're looking at these photos!

ANGIE + SHANE | ENGAGED

Next up are Angie and Shane. I got to venture to the neat city of Charleston, West Virginia for this session. It's always fun to go somewhere new and explore different areas. We found some really funky places like a striped colored wall and salmon zig zag painted wall. These two were so laid back and easy to photograph, not to mention fun to just hang out with!

To see more of this sweet couple and cool city go HERE!

KAITI + PAUL | ENGAGED

It's wedding season soon so that means lots of engagement sessions are taking place in preparation for the big day! I have been busy shooting and editing away. This wonderful couple was the first up. They are such a joy to be around and literally the nicest people you will ever meet! Their love is so vast for each other, something I truly admire. I can't wait for your wedding in June!

SAN DIEGO: BIRDS + ZOO

Lots of animals in this post! I became obsessed with trying to photograph birds this year. I looove how some of them turned out. And of course I loved the animals at the zoo!

SAN DIEGO: WINE + NIGHT

We went up to Temecula for the first time this year where there are many wineries all in a short distance from each other. It was so pretty to just see the rolling hills and vines. The grapes aren't really noticeable because they aren't in season yet. The group are all of my brother's friends who joined in our venture.

The night shots are my new favorite thing! I love the unfocused look of the San Diego skyline. I took these while driving over the Coronado bridge one night.

SAN DIEGO: OCEAN

I have SOOOO many photos from San Diego and I don't know where to start! So I decided to just first post all of the beautiful ocean views I had during the trip. These of course, are not even close to all of them. Most are just from outside out balcony on Sunset Cliffs, some sunrises, some sunsets, what it looks like when the fog rolls in, views in La Jolla, and Torrey Pines all over the course of our one week. The ocean is so powerful!

The next few posts will be entitled wine, surf, zoo + birds, and night. It was such a great trip and now that we have done most of the touristy things there it was nice to relax and know exactly what we wanted to do while we were there. I think I had a Chia Latte (Pannakin was by far my favorite, thanks Chelsea!) every single day and I am currently going through withdrawal. I bought some loose tea to bring home but it's not the same when you're sipping it looking at the Hocking River as opposed to the Pacific Ocean. Bummer. We ate at almost all new restaurants (Hodads= yummy burgers and I saw the infamous Guy Fieri face tattoo on the owners leg!, Miguel's= amazing Mexican, Filippi's= authentic Italian, World Famous= delicioussss lobster tacos, Point Loma Seafoods= fantastic fish and chips, C Level= breathtaking view of the city with tasty appetizers, and... I ate like a cow. So anyone venturing that way should check out those amazing places!

WE'RE OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD...

I have had this idea written in my little idea book for years and I finally got to put it to use! And I love how it turned out, just as I had imagined! I wanted to do a Wizard of Oz theme shoe spread with the lion in furry boots, Dorothy in reed heels, the scarecrow in black boots, the tinman in silver heels and the witch in point black heels. I wanted it to be a modern take on the characters with a fun magazine cut out feel. Thanks to everyone who made this happen from my leg models (Erin and Sam) to my shoe lenders (Sarah, Sam and Mandy). I couldn't have done it without you guys!

Now off to San Diego to visit my brother for spring break in 10 days!!

BEAUTIFUL DIRTY RICH

Yes. the title of this post if the name of a Lady Gaga song. And yes, it was on purpose, haha. By request of my friends Katie, Sam and Erin. My friends and I ventured into the beauuuuutiful sunny warm-ish weather we've been having for a photo adventure. I love just capturing a day in my life with my crazy friends. We're such goofballs. I can always look back on these after I graduate this spring and get a good laugh. I'm going to miss these girls so much! By the way, how'd I get such pretty friends?!?!

PHONOGRAPH + URBAN DECAY

Not the usual mix, just a phonograph and urban decay... haha, these next assignments required something larger than a tabletop (phonograph) and a cosmetic (eyeshadow). It's hard to photograph large things and make it interesting. This is actually my grandparents but they gave it to my mom because she loved it so much. I always remember my mom playing K-K-K-Katie on it when we would visit my grandparents. The Urban Decay eyeshadow was a gross shoot. Only because it involved me smashing gum into concrete to make it look like a city street, haha.

CAPTURE LIFE

I am in some serious need to shoot people. Ha! Not the bang, you're dead kind of shoot, the use my camera to capture you, capture laughter, capture moments, capture LIFE. I came across this sweet necklace on etsy and it made me realize that capturing life, is what I love to do. I'm so burned out on inanimate objects in my still life class and it's hard to get people willing to go out in the snow, now turned muddy mucky rainy melting mess. So if you're up for a life capturing adventure, let me know. :)

I stumbled across these photos while transferring my thousands of photos due to a crashed hard drive (bummer). He's such a strange guy ;) (actually, I think I made him do these things! haha) but hey, it totally captures the silly life I live! And because this makes me laugh and makes me long for the pool filled summer days that seem just out of reach...

ÉN GRY & SIF - AVON GLASS

I have really been loving textures lately and I think it's pretty obvious with my next assignment. We were given the task to do both an open assignment (we got to CHOOSE what to take photos of!!!) and glass or alcohol shot that were advertisements. I'm starting with my open assignment because I really loved how it turned out. I was wanting to shoot something that I felt fit my style and something that I would enjoy photographing so I chose this cute clutch that was a gift to me from Én Gry & Sif. Such a neat company! All the textures with the fuzzy wool, crisp dried flowers and gritty wood. I added the blurry flowers on the right just for this post because I liked how to two went together. And the red candy dish is actually an Avon Collectible from my Grandma.

MORTAR + PESTLE

This assignment was to take a photo of a timeless object, one that wouldn't be dated in a few years. I photographed this beautiful olive wood mortar and pestle from Anthropologie. I love the richness and textures.

THE UGLI TRUTH

Here's my next assignment, a magazine spread for food. I totally went an opposite way from everyone else in the class doing a more comical style but I think it turned out great! This is another design I made myself. It's has such a fun yearbook superlatives feel! And yes, it's real. Ugli fruit is really a fruit... and it's really yummy! I made the faces by hand which were also a lot of fun to create.

KNITTY GRITTY

Whew! Halfway through the quarter already. Here's one of my first assignments. Our guidelines were just to make an editorial fashion item so I really wanted to shoot my beautiful knit headband from Anthropologie (LOVELOVELOVE this store!!!). We worked with a designer to come up with a fashion editorial spread for a magazine. I actually made this design on my own while messing around in my spare time and thought it was pretty cute! I actually love designing as well as photography so it's hard for me to not play around with my images. :) It was a great experience to work with a designer and challenging at the same time to make sure it was something that we both could benefit from. More soon...

2010... A LITTLE LATE

It's been a while since I have posted on here and after getting several "complaints" I decided to just post a little something to let you know I'm still alive! :) I'm back and school and things are in a whirl so I haven't had much time to blog. Projects will be posted soon! This quarter we are focusing again on still life (no people :( )but incorporating it into layouts for advertisements and editorial spreads. We get to work with the design students to collaborate and come up with some great stuff! (I'm really excited to show you what I've been working on with my designers these first couple weeks!)

Anyways... it's 2010... the year I graduate college! And a lot of great things are in store for me this year. But for now, to keep those "complainers" quiet :) a session I did during a full fledged snow storm over break for my friend Sara and her brother Matt. They were so awesome and willing to brave the snow but it was totally worth it because the snow looked beautiful!
